Elgato Stream Deck Mini vs Scissor Keys: Which Fits Your Desk?
Scissor Keys is the fit for a larger directly accessible key surface and a removable stand with an included USB-C cable. Mini keeps the control surface to six keys and uses an integrated cable and stand; its official US page does not clearly settle the plug type, so verify that detail before buying.

The buying question
Should you choose the six-key Stream Deck Mini or the 15-key Stream Deck Scissor Keys for your available space and preferred cable and stand arrangement?
The Mini has six customizable LCD keys and an integrated, fixed cable; Scissor Keys has 15 programmable LCD keys, a removable stand, and a separately listed USB-C cable. Their listed body dimensions also differ in orientation and height.
Quick verdict
Choose Elgato Stream Deck Scissor Keys if
- You want 15 physical LCD keys on the device rather than six.
- The included removable stand and separately listed USB-C-to-USB-C cable fit your workstation.
Choose Elgato Stream Deck Mini if
- Six physical LCD keys are enough for your main actions.
- Mini's listed body size and integrated cable and stand arrangement fit your desk, and you have confirmed the cable connector on the specific unit.
When the recommendation changes
- If the Mini's exact cable connector is decisive, verify the connector on the specific unit or listing first; Elgato's US page does not resolve it consistently.
- If desk clearance or height is tight, compare the listed dimensions with the actual orientation and surface where the device will sit.
The differences that matter
Visible Controls And Footprint
What this changes: Scissor Keys exposes more physical keys. Mini has a smaller listed width/depth footprint but a greater listed height: 58 mm versus the Scissor Keys product page’s 30 mm. Mini can hold additional actions in folders, but that does not add physical keys. These listed device dimensions do not establish the same stand configuration; check the assembled height and orientation for your desk.[1, 2, 3, 4]
Cable And Stand Setup
Elgato Stream Deck Scissor Keys
The box includes a detachable stand and a separately listed 150 cm USB-C-to-USB-C cable.[1]
What this changes: Scissor Keys packages a removable stand and a separate USB-C cable; Mini's stand and cable are described as integrated. This changes cable routing and the physical placement options, without establishing connector compatibility for Mini or claiming that Scissor Keys' cable is user-replaceable.[1, 2, 4]
Best for your routine
You want up to 15 physical keys ready on the device and want the included removable stand.
Best fit: Elgato Stream Deck Scissor Keys
Based on listed features, not comparative testing.
Scissor Keys has 15 programmable LCD keys and includes a detachable stand; the choice is about the documented control surface and setup, not measured speed or key quality.
You only need six physical keys and want a compact Stream Deck with an integrated cable and stand.
Best fit: Elgato Stream Deck Mini
Based on listed features, not comparative testing.
Mini has six customizable LCD keys and its product page lists an integrated cable and stand. Confirm its connector on the particular unit before purchase.
Value and trade-offs
One or both observed offers have eligibility conditions, so no unrestricted price difference is shown.
If Scissor Keys costs more at checkout, consider that price only against the 15-key surface and its documented stand and cable package; Mini is the six-key, integrated-cable alternative.
Only current price observations are available for this comparison. Compare today's offers at checkout; there is not enough price history for a Buy Now or Wait recommendation.
Limitations
- No hands-on testing or controlled comparison of speed, key feel, reliability, durability, or performance was conducted.
- Elgato's US Mini page calls its cable integrated and non-detachable, but its system-requirements block also mentions USB-C without clearly identifying the physical connector. Verify the connector on the exact unit or seller listing; this comparison does not claim Mini compatibility with a particular port.
- Mini’s listed width/depth footprint is smaller, while its listed height is greater. The dimensions are the figures on each model’s product page; they do not establish identical stand configurations or assembled clearance. Check the height with the stand and orientation you intend to use.
Questions shoppers ask
Can the six-key Mini store more than six actions?
Yes. Elgato's Mini page describes pages and nested folders, and its quick-start guide shows creating a folder on a key and returning with the back key. That expands the action layout but does not change the six physical keys on the device.
Does the Mini cable plug directly into USB-C?
The US product page lists a 150 cm integrated, non-detachable cable, while the system-requirements block mentions a USB-C port without making the cable end clear. Check the exact unit or seller listing before ordering; this comparison does not assume a connector type for Mini.
Methodology and sources
Compared exact SKU-bound manufacturer product specifications and the Mini quick-start guide for key count, listed dimensions, cable and stand arrangement, and folder navigation. Recommendations are conditional on desk layout and setup needs; no measured performance or key-feel winner is claimed.
AI assistance organized the model-specific product specifications and compared the documented key surface, dimensions, cable, and stand details. No physical performance testing was conducted.
