ASUS VG32VQM5AZ vs Samsung Odyssey G55C 32: Which Display Mode and Setup Fits?

ASUS lists 1920x1080 with a maximum 240Hz refresh rate; Samsung lists QHD 2560x1440 with a maximum 165Hz rate. Pick by the mode your source device can use and the input counts and mounting details that fit your setup. ASUS explicitly specifies a VESA pattern; Samsung lists 75x75mm wall-mount dimensions, so verify compatibility with your mount. These specifications do not establish which monitor looks or performs better.

The buying question

Should the buyer choose the ASUS's listed Full HD/up-to-240Hz combination or Samsung's QHD/up-to-165Hz combination, and which input counts and listed mounting dimensions fit the desk setup?

The manufacturer pages list more pixels at a lower maximum refresh rate for Samsung, while ASUS lists Full HD and a higher maximum refresh rate. They also list different HDMI counts: ASUS explicitly specifies a 100x100mm VESA mounting pattern, while Samsung lists 75x75mm wall-mount dimensions; verify those dimensions against the intended mount.

Quick verdict

When the recommendation changes
  • Confirm the source device can output the selected resolution and refresh rate through the input you plan to use; the listed product maximum is not a guarantee for every source or connection.

The differences that matter

Display Mode Fit

ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQM5AZ

31.5-inch display; 1920x1080 resolution; manufacturer-listed maximum refresh rate of 240Hz.[1]

Samsung Odyssey G5 G55C 32-inch (LS32CG550ENXZA)

32-inch-class display; QHD 2560x1440 resolution; manufacturer-listed maximum refresh rate of 165Hz.[2]

What this changes: This is a choice between the listed resolution and maximum refresh-rate specifications. Check the intended source device and use; neither maximum specification proves better image quality, motion handling or gaming performance.[1, 2]

The better fit depends on your priorities

Input And Mount Setup

ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQM5AZ

Two HDMI 2.0 inputs, one DisplayPort 1.2 input, and a 100x100mm VESA mounting pattern.[1]

Samsung Odyssey G5 G55C 32-inch (LS32CG550ENXZA)

One HDMI input, one DisplayPort 1.2 input, and manufacturer-listed 75x75mm wall-mount dimensions; the page does not identify them as a VESA pattern.[2]

What this changes: Count the sources you want connected directly. ASUS explicitly specifies a VESA pattern; Samsung lists 75x75mm wall-mount dimensions without naming a VESA standard, so verify that they fit your intended arm or wall mount. Port presence alone does not confirm every source-specific resolution and refresh combination.[1, 2]

The better fit depends on your priorities

Value and trade-offs

One or both observed offers have eligibility conditions, so no unrestricted price difference is shown.

No current-offer or price-history comparison was assessed. Compare live prices separately against the display mode and connection or mounting features you will use.

No current offers or historical price window were assessed, so this comparison gives no purchase-timing guidance.

Limitations

  • The Samsung specifications are from the manufacturer page for exact model code LS32CG550ENXZA in Canada. They support the listed technical facts only, not U.S. offers, package contents, warranty or local availability.
  • A manufacturer-listed maximum refresh rate is not a measured game frame rate, motion-clarity result or image-quality comparison.
  • The listed ports and maximum rates do not establish every source device's input-specific mode. Check the monitor timing requirements for your device and chosen connection.
  • Current offers and price history were not assessed.

Methodology and sources

Compared each manufacturer's listed display resolution and maximum refresh rate, then the input counts and listed mounting specifications. ASUS explicitly identifies a VESA pattern; Samsung lists 75x75mm wall-mount dimensions without identifying a VESA standard. No display-quality or gaming-performance tests were performed.

Automated research and drafting helped organize the cited specifications. Pickoryx did not conduct hands-on testing.
